THE DEAD THING Trailer - A Deadly Love Haunts in Time for Valentine's Day

Setting the mood and stage for Valentine's Day is the official trailer from Shudder for THE DEAD THING.


Alex (Blu Hunt) is trapped in a downward spiral of shallow hookups and tepid connections, but she is caught off guard when her dating app swipes lead her into the arms of a mysterious, charming young man, Kyle (Ben Smith-Petersen). Despite their passionate night, when the sun rises, the mystery man is nowhere to be found.


Alex then sets out to find the one person who made her feel alive. Through her investigation, she reconnects with Kyle and digs up a ghastly supernatural secret. The pair quickly descend into a whirlwind of obsession, dependence, lust, and infatuation that has grave consequences.

Elric Kane is an active voice in the film podcasting world. His show, Pure Cinema, is the official podcast of Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema, and his other show, Colors of the Dark, is the official podcast for the long-running horror magazine Fangoria.


THE DEAD THING marks his US feature film directing debut.

The film stars Katherine Hughes ("Tell Me Lies," "The Goldbergs"), Blu Hunt (The New Mutants, "Grown-ish"), John Karna (The Blazing World, Lady Bird), Brennan Mejia ("American Horror Story," Corrective Measures), Joey Millin (Threshold, Misdirection), Ben Smith-Petersen (Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), and Aerial Washington (Christmas Bloody Christmas, On The Market).


Kane and Webb Wilcoxen wrote THE DEAD THING. Matt Mercer and Monte Yazzie produced the film, with Rebekah McKendry and Blu Hunt executive producing.


The Director of Photography was Iona Vasile, and the editor was Star Rosencrans.
