THE BABADOOK 10th Anniversary Re-Release Hits Theaters 9/19

IFC Films and Iconic Events have joined together to deliver a 10th Anniversary re-release of Jennifer Kent's THE BABADOOK. The theatrical re-release will feature an exclusive Q&A with writer/director Jennifer Kent for fans, giving us something more to glom onto.

The Babadook Synopsis

Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Essie Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control’ 6 year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both.

When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control, he becomes more unpredictable and violent. Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son’s behaviour, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.

THE BABADOOK stars Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Hayley McElhinney, Daniel Henshall, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear.

About the Director

Jennifer Kent is an Australian director, screenwriter, and former actress. She is best known for writing and directing the psychological horror film THE BABADOOK (2014). Her second film, The Nightingale (2018), premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Lion.

The 10th Anniversary re-release of THE BABADOOK plays in theaters nationwide starting September 19, 2024. Tickets are on sale now!
