Imagine our surprise when we were invited to attend a haunted event in April! Even more exciting—it was being produced by Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail, the team behind some of Central Florida’s most beloved Halloween and Christmas haunts. Every event we’ve attended from them has been nothing short of incredible. So, would their new limited-time offering, Sir Henry's Haunted Ghost Town and BBQ, be another home run?

Running for two nights only—April 11 and 12—this event features two themed haunted trails, a western show, immersive character interactions in the common area, an escape room, BBQ food stands, and themed shopping. During the preview, the BBQ and escape room experiences were not yet operating, but we were told that two of the best BBQ food trucks around will be serving up delicious eats during the event.

The evening kicked off with an energetic opening ceremony telling the story of a gold mining town overtaken by evil spirits. Ghosts on horseback circled the audience as another spirit demonstrated expert whip-cracking skills, setting the tone for the eerie adventure ahead.

The familiar grounds—previously seen during Halloween and Christmas events—were transformed with impressive western-inspired set design. For a two-night event, the level of detail was shocking. One of the signature elements of Sir Henry’s events is the highly interactive scare actors. These aren’t your typical jump-scare performers—they engage in full conversations with guests, enhancing immersion and storytelling. As someone who grew up in Southern California with Knott’s and classic ghost town attractions, this was a nostalgic treat.

Guests also enjoyed a short live-action stunt show featuring a classic bank robbery complete with gunfire and horses—another standout moment.

We explored both haunted trails during our visit. The Curse of Deadwood Mines offered a journey through dusty, uneven terrain haunted by an evil lurking in the shadows. The set design was fresh and detailed—not just a re-skin of previous haunts—and the scare actors were in top form. The second trail, Pale Riders, took us through a western town ruled by sinister desperados and tormented townsfolk. Both trails ran over five minutes each and delivered plenty of scares, atmosphere, and creativity.

Overall, Sir Henry’s Haunted Ghost Town and BBQ is another stellar outing from the team at Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail. A haunted event in April is a rare treat, and the amount of love, care, and craft that went into this weekend-long experience is impressive.

Tickets are $27 for general admission and $37 for front-of-the-line access. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit: www.sirhenryshauntedtrail.com
