Dark Delicacies's Final Night of Punishment Signals The End of an Era

This year, a much beloved Burbank holiday tradition sadly comes to an end. For 13 years, at the city’s annual Holiday in the Park event, horror book store Dark Delicacies has been the place where holiday and horror fans alike have a visit with folklore legend the 7 Hells Krampus.  The enormously popular bookstore and community gathering spot Dark Delicacies will close its doors in April of 2025.

The Alpine legend of Krampus has been recognized for hundreds of years as the companion of St. Nicholas, who doles out punishment to the naughty in the name of the Saint. It has become tradition, especially in parts of Europe, for people to dress as Krampus on the night of December 5th, known as Krampusnacht.

Here in the US, and during the 7 Hells Krampus' past visits at Dark Delicacies, thousands of people young and old, have enjoyed getting into the swing of the holiday spirit by posing with the legend for photos. “Many people come year after year,” says Sue Howison, co-owner of  Dark Delicacies. "Others bring their pets; everyone really gets into it; we’ve seen so many creative costumes and outfits. And, of course, we love to see how much the kids enjoy Krampus.  Babies too. We’ve seen them grow up!”

The 7 Hells Krampus is the horror personality who represents artist Bill Rude and his retro horror art label, '7 Hells,' during the holiday season. The label includes a line of Horror Holiday Cards and original Prints.

Dark Delicacies, America's Home of Horror, will close the doors of its brick-and-mortar operation in April 2025. They will stay involved in the Horror community in other ways, such as conventions, pop-ups, and online.

The iconic 7 Hells Krampus appears in numerous live and media events to 'punish' the naughty all over Southern California. The personality’s popularity has even secured verification on Cameo.com where folks can request personalized greetings on demand.

This year's Burbank Holiday in the Park event is scheduled for the evening of November 22nd, 2024, from 5 to 9 p.m. Dark Delicacies is located at 822 N Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91505.
